Summer's Over

And so another summer winds down. As you can see, I had a really good time visiting everyone in Hawaii again. The festival was a great success, and given that it was the 25th anniversary, the number of talented performers from both Hawaii and Okinawa was higher than normal. I was quite impressed at the level of skill and enthusiasm exhibited by everyone form young to old. I was really happy that I got to see almost all the acts this year, as a result of not having to work at the "Pigs' Feet Soup" booth all day this year. No, this year we only had to help out at the special performance of the play "Eyes of the Future" on the Thursday evening and at the food both for the Friday night parade and concert. Of course, the food was quite delicious, as always, with all the tasty traditional Okinawan and Hawaiian-mixed treats.

It seems like I got quite a bit of work done around the house this year as well. With Grandpa's help, we repaired the side walkway and the "highway" from the backdoor to the garage. Then there was the watering and garden work, which, given their plant to yard ratio, was an adventure as always (we would have a small jungle in Vancouver if we had the same ratio!). Anyway, I was glad to see everyone in good health and spirits. I hope I can still get around when I get to be that old...

Well, just a couple weeks now and school will be in full swing again...summers just never do seem long enough.
